EMBER Coffee Roaster

A family of 3, 6 and 9 kg coffee roaster concepts exploring a shared industrial design language, electric drum heating, accessible controls and practical service access.

The exploration

Design intent

EMBER explores how one coherent product family could serve specialty cafés, micro-roasteries and small production facilities. The 6 kg model anchors the study, with smaller and larger variants proposing changes to the drum, cooling tray and supporting chassis. A graphite enclosure, brushed stainless-steel surfaces and restrained copper accents establish the visual direction.

Design priorities

  • A shared identity across three nominal green-coffee batch capacities.
  • Accessible loading, sampling, discharge, controls and service panels.
  • A considered path from form exploration to packaging and manufacturing development.

Further development

Further development would establish the thermal system, electrical supply, drum drive, airflow, chaff handling and cooling performance. Detailed CAD, food-contact material selection, guarding, insulation, cleaning access, ergonomics and service clearances would follow. Prototypes and testing would verify roast consistency, temperature control, safe operation and packaging loads before manufacture.
